Makeup Tips for Teenagers & Perfect Makeup for Debs/Prom

When it comes to wearing makeup when you’re a teenager, you have you pick of looks to choose from since your skin is young and you can get away with wearing little makeup or going all out for a really glam look.  I’ve put together a few examples of looks I’ve done on my teen clients which would be great for either everyday wear or for a Debs/Prom as well as some general tips for wearing makeup.

Foundation Tips for Problem Skin

If you suffer with Acne, you don’t have to cake your face in thick liquid or cream foundation to cover it.  The key to a flawless natural look is to wear a light foundation or BB cream and get a good concealer to go over any red areas or spots.  Even if you suffer from Acne you can cover your spots without trowelling on the slap.

I did this look for Claire to show her how to cover her skin in a natural way.  She is a beautiful girl but wanted to feel a bit more confident with her skin so I covered her skin with MAC’s Face and Body which is a really light foundation and then spot concealed with my concealer kit from Makeup forever (Catrice do a cheaper version of this also) and you just use a pointed concealer brush to go lightly over each spot then powder over lightly to set.  I kept the rest of her makeup really natural with just a light wash of shadow and some liner, mascara and a smudge of lipgloss.

Then for a night out for her graduation we did a gorgeous Cranberry/Purple look which made her beautiful Green eyes pop! Claires eyebrows are the perfect shape so I just brushed through with a brown powder shadow which looks much more natural than those drawn on black eyebrows I’ve seen lots of girls wearing!

A defined eyebrow looks fab and really frames your face but these drawn on “check marks” on your face are far from a good look!  If you’re not sure what to do with your brows there are plenty of tutorials for filling in eyebrows on Youtube so check them out and get yourself a good angle brush and brow palette.  I love the one from GOSH cosmetics.

For Laura I also did a natural look which I used a bronzy brown liner to compliment the light colour of her eyes and she looked really stunning.  This would be perfect for wearing at the weekend or even on a night out.

Then for a more glam look, we went for a more dramatic but pretty glitter eye which would be perfect for a Debs and was quick and easy to do!  We went for a nude lip which is always best if you’ve got loads going on with the eyes.

Of course if you want to go all out and try something really different that looks great too.  For Kristina I did this really dramatic Metallic Winged Eyeshadow look using Black and gold eyeshadows from the Urban Decay Naked Palette as well as some Silver eyeshadow on her inner corner, I just intensified them by applying with a wet brush.

Also for a Debs/Prom you can’t go wrong with a classic “Red Carpet” look of light eyeshadow with winged liner and a Red lip.  That looks really fab for a night out also.

Here are some of my fave celeb Red Carpet looks which would be perfect for a Debs/Prom.
