MeMeMe Cosmetics Review and Makeup Look

I have been a fan of MeMeMe Cosmetics since I got one of their fab liquid highlighters in my Glossybox a while back.   They do everything from primers and foundations to lip products and nail polishes.  I love the packaging and the quality of the products and I’ve tested them out when I’ve seen them in chemists and they’ve always looked amazing.  Plus they have some great dupes for more expensive cosmetics and are just as good, if not better!   So I was absolutely thrilled when they sent me out some bits to try out for myself.

Longwear Satin Lip Cream in China Rose €10.50

This gorgeous peachy coral lipstick (pictured above) was a real treat for my lips.  It felt so creamy moisturising when I applied it but yet it was really long lasting.

Light Me Up – High shine Lipgloss €8.99

This fab lipgloss comes with a light in the applicator.  Yes you read that right, A LIGHT!   Handy for if there’s ever a power cut or if you need to top up your lipgloss in a nighclub where you can’t see a thing! How fab is that?! 🙂 It also has a snazzy little mirror on the tube of the lipgloss so it’s just perfect for bringing on a night out.  The gloss itself is fab, I couldn’t see where it was named but this one was a light pink with gold sparkly bits and I really loved it.  It’s actually a great dupe for one of my absolute favourite glosses – MAC’s Nymphette.

Shimmer Stack – Bronze Illuminating Powder €12.50

This beautiful highlighter gives a gorgous glow to your face and body and you can sweep your brush through it to get a mix of the colours or else use the individual colours as a bronzer or even an eyeshadow.  This is comparable to Bobbi Brown’s shimmer brick, but at a fraction of the price.

Arch Angel Shape & Define Tinted Brow Gel and Highlighting Cream €10.50

Arch Angel

This is one of those fab makeup products that you don’t realise you need until you actually start using it!  On one side is a tinted brow gel for shaping and defining your brows and on the other is a creamy highlighter for your browbone or you can also use it dabbed lightly along your cheekbone.

Eye Inspire Quad Baked Eyeshadow €8.50

This shimmery gold eyeshadow quad has everything you need to create a gorgeous golden/bronzey look and comes in one fab little compact so it won’t take up much room in your makeup bag.  The shimmery finish is perfect to for a night out!

I did a makeup look to show how the products look when applied and this is how it turned out:

My Makeup Look

Overall I really love this brand and I wish it was sold in some of the bigger pharmacies like Boots.  The packaging is perfect and the products are just gorgeous with an emphasis on giving you a heavenly glow.  Plus, the added bonus is that they feel much more luxurious than the price tells you they are.  Although they are at the higher end of the price scale for a pharmacy makeup brand, I really think the products are worth it and I can’t say enough good things about them.  I’m really looking forward to trying more products, their blushes seem like great dupes for the Benefit ones and the Dew pots (cream eyeshadows) look like the perfect eyeshadow base for a colourful smoky eye.

If you’re on Facebook check out their page here, they have pics of some of their fantastic Christmas sets, I’ll be stocking up myself!: MeMeMe Cosmetics Ireland Facebook Page

Christmas Cranberry Makeup Tutorial

So… I decided to bite the bullet and do another Youtube Video 🙂  This time I did a tutorial showing how to do a Cranberry Smoky Eye which would be perfect for wearing out over the Christmas Holidays.

I am just learning about how to edit videos so you’ll have to forgive me if it’s sloppy in places but I will improve over time I’m sure.  My daughter is really into photography so I borrowed her Canon camera to record this and it really makes all the difference!

Keep an eye out for more videos coming soon 🙂

Nimue – Rejuvenating Face Mask Review

Nimue logo

Nimue is a salon exclusive skincare brand which was initially developed in 1994 and aimed at the medical market for pre and post-operative application as well as for advanced results orientated skin rejuvenation treatment by skin care therapists.  The brand has since become known for its innovative formulations and cutting edge technology based on the effective combination of exceptional ingredients with scientifically proven delivery systems.

Nimue skincare’s unique philosophy is based on four treatment pillars:

  • Rejuvenation
  • Restoration
  • Antioxidation
  • Sun Protection

Nimue is also claims to be exceptionally effective in dramatically improving the signs of premature skin ageing, which include dryness, sensitivity and rough texture.

Rejuvenating Mask

The treatment mask that I tested, specifically promotes skin rejuvenation. The Rejuvenating Face Mask contains active ingredients including Alpha Lipoic Acid, Retinol and Vitamin C Ester, as well as Pentavitin for a rich moisturing effect.  It is especially good for environmentally damaged skin, hyperpigmented skin (occuring due to sun damage or pregnancy), and problematic skin.

Nimue claims that your skin will immediately feel well-hydrated, extremely smooth and rejuvenated.  So, I put it to the test to find out if actually works!

I followed the directions and applied a thick layer of the mask evenly over my face and neck avoiding the delicate eye area.  It’s a thick textured cream with a medicinal smell which dried  on my face.  I could feel the active ingredients working straight away, my skin felt tingly but not irritated. I then let it do it’s thing for 10 minutes and then rinsed it off with a wet muslin cloth.  They recommend that you do this once or twice a week.

Before after

Afterwards my skin was glowing and it did feel renewed and like as if I’d exfoliated it so it must have done something good!

I’ve been using this once a week but I always find it hard to make the time even though I really should!  I have a bit of sun damage on my skin and I haven’t really noticed the pigmentation fading, but maybe if I keep using it regularly it might help.  Based on my experience with this mask, I would definitely check out their other products that might suit my skin. 🙂

Have you heard of Nimue products?

Nimue skincare can be found at selected salons or if you’re in Dublin and looking for stockists, you can contact:

Give Joy with The Body Shop’s Christmas Gift Collection!

Last Wednesday night, I was invited to a bloggers event at The Body Shop on Grafton Street to reveal their fabulous Christmas Gifts.  They really have something for everyone and every budget this year and the sets are absolutely gorgeous.  There isn’t anyone I know who wouldn’t be happy to find these goodies under the tree on Christmas morning that’s for sure!

There was so much to choose from so I’ve picked a few of my favourites below and broken them down into price range:

Under €40

The Body Shop’s signature scent, White Musk, has been given a bit of a makeover and now comes in two other fragrance types along with the original & classic White Musk scent.  Even the men in your life are included here with their own masculine range of White Musk gift sets to choose from.  They come with an Eau de Toilette perfume plus a body lotion and/or body spritz to really layer the fragrance enough to last the day.  This is one of my faves and I got to take a lovely set of the Classic White Musk home and try it out and it really is as gorgeous as I remember it.  The fragrance lasts for absolutely ages too!  Check out the full range of gifts in this price range, here

White Musk Sets

Under €30

Just who could resist these gorgeous little sets with Christmas themed fragrances such as Ginger, Cranberry and Vanilla?  Not me that’s for sure, they’re just too cute! They range from body scrubs and body butters to shower gels and body puffs encased in the cutest little keepsake tins and boxes.  I’m a big fan of The Body Shop Body Butters, (they have a whole range with every type from Chocolate to Shea Butter) and these sets come with the limited edition Christmas Body Butters.  You don’t have to wait for Christmas morning to open these beauties, imagine the joy of having a nice shower using your deliciously smelling shower gel and then slathering yourself in the matching body butter on Christmas Eve to snuggle into your comfy new PJ’s and wait for Santa to come 🙂  I love the fact that you can smell Christmassy as well as feel it! You have to check out the range here.

Gift Sets

Under €10

If you’re looking for a few little stocking fillers then look no further than these lovely little treats.  They range from Chocolate body shower cream and soap to little mini manicure sets.  Check out this bargain range of goodies here.

10 gifts

At €99, this next goodie goes in the “Money no Object” category!  Following the latest trend for beauty brands to bring out their own Advent Calendars packed with lots of beauty goodies, The Body Shop has come out with this little beaut stuffed with 24 of their best selling products, check out what’s included here.  Isn’t it amazing?!  Try restraining yourself to one treat a day, I dare you!

The Body Shop is well known for it’s ethical fair trade and cruelty free products and following its “Beauty With a Heart” motto this Christmas, $300,000 from the sales of all their gifts will help build 5 new schools with their Community Fair Trade partners from around the world.  So not only are you buying gorgeous pressies for your loved ones, you’re contributing to a good cause too, even more reason to treat the ones you love – or yourself! 🙂

At the event, we were also treated to a makeup demo from their new improved makeup line, I will do a separate post on the makeup as it’s just amazing and I really want to give it a good test run 🙂  We were also treated to an eyebrow threading demo.  Threading in The Body Shop costs just €12 so I’ll be back to have that done.  I also like the fact that the area where you have the threading is private in the Grafton Street store.  I’ve seen the chairs out in full view of passers-by before in other stores and that is something that would put me off having it done if I’m honest.

What do you think of this collection?  Will you be buying some Christmas Gift Sets from The Body Shop this year?

Going Out Makeup – Gold Glitter Smoky Eye

I did this makeup look when I was going out last weekend.  It’s a gold smoky eye with browns and a bit of glitter added for good measure 😉   Since we’re into November now and not too far from the party season I thought I’d share it here to show you how I did it.  This is the look below before I went out:

Below is after I got home so the glitter managed to stay on well despite all the dancing and drinking and not end up all over my face which was good!

Gold Smoky Eyes

These are the products I used on my eyes:

  • Maybelline Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Eternal Gold all over the eyelid
  • L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Goldmine over lid
  • INGLOT Freedom System Eyeshadows in Browns in the crease & outer corner & Black to deepen the crease
  • Mix of 2 different INGLOT Bodysparkles Glitter placed on the lid with LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer to make it stick (this is a must-have if using glitter!)
  • Maybelline Gel eyeliner in Black flicked out at the end
  • Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara & False lashes
  • I also used my MAC Dainty Blush and Makeup Forevers Matt Plus Foundation (not pictured here)

Gold Glitter Eye Makeup

Then, for my lips I used this Lip Duo Lipgloss from Inglot in #17

INGLOT Lip Duo 17 2

And that was it 🙂 You just need to take your time when using glitter and use something to make it stick so you don’t end up having more of it on your face than on your eyelid by the end of the night!  I’d highly recommend the LA splash eye sealer, you can get it from here:

Don’t forget to check out my previous hair tutorial post and you’ll be sorted for the weekend 🙂

What do you think? Will you be giving this a go for the upcoming party season?

Easy Peasy Curls in less than 10 minutes

Something for the weekend?  How about some quick and easy curls that’ll take less than 10 minutes to do and is easy peasy!  A girl in work told me about this and it’s definitely the best hair tip I’ve ever gotten so I thought I’d share it here.

Now, I am NOT a hairdresser but anyone can do this, it’s so simple.  It’s probably best to do it the day after you washed your hair but if that’s not possible, just put mousse in your wet hair before you dry it so it’ll hold the curl better.

You’ll need:

  • A hairbrush or tail comb
  • A can of Hairspray
  • Some clear elastics are the best to use here (You can get these in Penny’s/Primark for next to nothing)
  • A ceramic curling wand certainly works best but any type of tongs or curler could work too

Curls in 3 easy Steps

  1. Section your hair into 3 ponytails, you don’t have to be very neat (I certainly wasn’t here!) but just make sure they are even. Spray each ponytail with hairspray.
  2. Section each ponytail in 2 and wrap each section around the curling wand, leave for a few seconds and release.  Try to curl away from the face for the front sections and alternate curling directions for the other sections at the back. When you’ve done all give them another blast of hairspray and leave them to cool (move onto your makeup or something).
  3. Pull the elastics out, (you don’t have to be gentle doing this, the curls will bounce back)  and run your fingers through the curls to break them up. Blast your hair with another bit of hairspray for good measure and “Juge” it up at the roots and there you go, easy quick curls!

You can backcomb your crown section to give it a bit of height and then go round the top section of your hair curling around 4 random bits if you want, that doesn’t take too long either and gives it a good effect if you are going out.

I will also put up a going out makeup tutorial post, so check back for that & let me know below if you’d try this. 🙂
